Hi, I have my CPC-A and looking for a job or way to get the A removed. I have already done practicode and didn't do as well as I hoped to remove it. So now looking for a job that they will accept with me being an apprentice. Any suggestions would be great and I live in South Carolina and looking for remote work.
 
There is so much good advice and guidance in the forums on this. Try searching (top right corner) the words CPC-A, Entry Level, how to find coding role, CPC-A Job, etc. You can see it has been answered probably hundreds of times over the years.

CU has apprentice hiring programs sometimes, keep an eye out for them.

Denver Health sometimes has Coder I and other openings:


Look at other type jobs in the rev cycle, not just coding.

Federal positions will sometimes allow CPC-A coders. You can check USAjobs.gov under "medical records technician", make sure it specifies coder somewhere in the listing as the same title is used for a handful of HIMs positions.
 
Hello, I am in Southeast Kansas and I am struggling to find anything without CPC experience. I just passed my test at the end of October, but I'd rather be proactive than keep hunting through jobs that want 3+ years of experience. Thanks for any insight!
 
The temp agency may not need to be local; I don't know for sure. The first thing I did was 30 days as an unpaid extern at a retirement home. (I wouldn't recommend that.) After that I got my CPC-A and got a three-month job at a pathology lab through a temp agency that specialized in medical positions. I was doing nothing all day but putting incidental pregnancy codes on hundreds of pap smears. When I finished that I targeted teaching hospitals. They seem to be the most receptive to coders with little experience. Teaching hospitals are also a great way to get inpatient coding experience, if that's what you want to do.
 
Thank you for your time , but how to approach temp agencies , apply for jobs on their websites ? or get these extern opportunities. I am new to US but have vast experience in healthcare. recently became CPC-A but no luck after that.
 
Hello, just passed my CPC exam and do not know what to do next. Can anybody tell me how much precticode is helpful in removing apprentice (A) title. Does XTernship also helpful in this regard/
