En E.U. la población latina alcanza un 17% según las estadísticas desde el 2017, Puerto Rico es parte de Estados Unidos, y nuestro idioma principal es español. En nuestra Isla se trabaja con los mismos fondos federales de CMS utilizamos sus guías y reglamentaciones al igual que en E.U.. A qué me quiero referir con este detalle? Que a nosotros (los latinos) nos encanta utilizar nuestro idioma de dominio principal a la hora de aprender. Por lo que me encantaría formar parte del crecimiento de AAPC con la comunidad Latina que tanta falta nos hace. Cuantos codificadores, facturadores, auditores "bilinguals" son parte de AAPC ?

In the U.S. the Latino population reaches 17% according to statistics since 2017, Puerto Rico is part of the United States, and our main language is Spanish. On our island, we work with the same federal CMS funds, we use their guidelines and regulations just as in the U.S. You may ask, what am I referring to? That we (Latinos) love to use our primary domain language when it comes to learning. So I would love to be part of AAPC's growth with the much-needed Latino community. How many medical Coders, Billers, Auditors are part of AAPC ?

Mi nombre es Sandra Torres y me gusto el articulo que publicó, a la misma vez me interesa ese articulo ya que vivo en la de Florida y me gustaría sacar la certificación en CPC pero es como usted dice aprendemos mejor en nuestro propio idioma. Si por alguna casualidad usted sabe como puedo obtener mi credencial en español por favor déjeme saber.

It has helped me particularly with billing ... occasionally I have to call Medicare HMO's in Puerto Rico and the customer service reps are always glad that I can speak to them in Spanish. Working together we have been able to resolve billing issues for out of network services. I am also my department's resource for patients who call in about their accounts. On just a side note, I work in behavioral health and my daughter-in-law is a clinical psychologist in South America. It is fun to compare the diagnoses and coding from ICD11 with her.

Wow, ICD11! Is ICD11 already becoming the standard version nowadays at many countries outside of US?

I recently obtained my CPC Certification. I am bilingual English/Spanish. Originally from Colombia currently living in the US in the State of Virgina. I have not find the opportunity to use my bilingual skills as a coder.

Estoy de acuerdo con Sandra Torres de que aprendemmos mejor en nuestro idioma, y aunque no se puedan encontrar cursos en español, al menos en este forum podemos aclarar dudas.

Saludos, te recomiendo que si no tiene experiencia, comiences con algo más básico en donde puedas demostrarle al patrono del alcance que tiene por ser Bilingue y cómo puedes utilizarlo a favor en la facturación y codificación. Indeed.com tiene un sin número de posiciones estoy segura puede encontrar algo por donde comenzar. La experiencia te hara crecer mucho. EXITO

Saludos, soy Instructora de AAPC y todos mis cursos los foy en español, también soy CEU vendor de AAPC. Entra a mi página en Eventbrite/PBSC Educational Resources , tengo próximamente talleres con CEU`s

No hay forma de certificarse en Español pero si tomar cursos con Instructores Latinos y las educaciones continuas. Tenemos que dejar sentir a AAPC la importancia para nosotros los latinos aprender en nuestro idioma

I am bilingual in English (primary language) and Spanish and I have found it useful in the many different positions that I have held. I would specifically mention that in a role as medical biller/accounts receivable specialist I was able to communicate with Medicare HMO representatives in Puerto Rico to verify coverage. This while working in Indiana! The representatives were happy to have someone who could speak to them in their primary language. I have also been the go-to person for explaining how US healthcare insurance works to many whose primary language is Spanish and/or come from countries with very different systems. On a personal/professional note, all of my employers have given me a pay premium due to my language skills.
