Wiki Medicare as a secondary payor to commercial insurance

Does anyone happen to have any experience with claim processing when Medicare is a secondary payor to Commercial Insurance?

We have a patient who has a hard-cap visit limit with their commercial insurance and are wondering if Medicare B will consider claims after that primary visit limit is reached, as long as services remain medically necessary and payable?

I would say it depends on how the primary insurance processes it. For example, if it goes to patient responsibility, vs being denied. Filing the claim to Medicare is the best way to find out.

I agree with the previous response, if your patient Is covered under a commercial policy, Medicare is secondary once your claim has been processed by the primary, submit your Medicare claim along with remit/eob for processing.
