Wiki Billing 99401 with Z71.85

My provider has been billing 99401 with Z71.85 and is getting only pennies back. Does anyone do of another code, etc. that she should be using? I have exhausted my resources with no success. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Is this for diet control or smoking or sub abuse counseling for the patient with CPT 99401-99404? See pg 37 in CPT manual for yr 2024. Add minutes on record discuss with patient on risk of vaccines possible or diet control problems dx E66 and Z68 BMI%.
Vaccines..... I d not use dx Z71.85as first dx code for vaccines use dx Z23 or Z01.84. Reason for vaccines if discussed can be added if for Tuberculosis dx A15, or dx J65, SARS-COVID J98.89, Flu see dx J09 or J10 for vaccine injections but add dx Z23 first if get vaccine. If have symptoms can assign R code R05, R06, R50 related to flu or respiratory ds. Also, once test results positive can add that as first dx.
Use CPT 99406-99409 if provider has listed description care notes related to sub abuse or smoking. If the patient has sub abuse use dx F10-F19 per type of abuse and minutes in record too.
